Private ownership of major infrastructure businesses

   Privatisation (or long term leasing) remains a divisive issue in Australia and around the world even through the benefits of private sector ownership are compelling. The transformation of previously publicly owned infrastructure businesses in Australia has been significant yet the ‘privatisation dividend’ often gets overlooked. This ‘dividend’ will be illustrated by looking at specific privatisation experiences, and will consider how can we better promote private sector ownership and encourage governments to embrace the benefits.
